You need library.sty, which replaces book.sty and has new sectioning commands \subject, \volume, as well as the usual \part, \chapter, etc. If nobody has written this already, try adapting book.sty yourself. If neither book is \part ed, then \part=\book might be a good place to start, ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 11 Oct 1993 10:25:50 +0100 From: David Beasley Subject: LaTeX makefile I've no idea whether this has been done before, but I've produced a Unix makefile which simplifies use of LaTeX and BibTeX. If people might be interested, I can make it available. Does anyone recognize and have a solution/explanation for the following LaTeX behaviour? Input file: - ------------------- \documentstyle{article} \newcommand{\foo}[1]{#1} \begin{document} \foo{ \begin{verbatim} bar \end{verbatim}} \begin{verbatim} baz \end{verbatim} \end{document} - ------------------- LaTeX output: - ------------------- This is TeX, C Version 2.93 (no format preloaded) (test.tex LaTeX Version 2.09 <26 Apr 1988> (/usr/local/lib/tex/inputs/article.sty Document Style `article' <16 Mar 88>. Extra \endgroup. \end ...global \let \@gtempa \relax \fi \endgroup \@checkend {#1}\@gtempa \i... l.10 \end{verbatim} ? - ------------------- It works OK if the first "verbatim" structure is a "quote". Our version of (La)TeX is on the old side, I know, but if there's another way to solve this than upgrading I'd prefer that, as some clients of ours have the same problem. I don't subscribe to this list, so if you could send any responses to dmc@cam.sri.com I'll post a summary. Thanks! That's a documented restriction. If you want a variant of verbatim (like boxed verbatim) you might want to look at my verbatim style option (available from all CTAN hosts under macros/latex/distribs/verbatim). > > LaTeX output: > ------------------- > This is TeX, C Version 2.93 (no format preloaded) > (test.tex > LaTeX Version 2.09 <26 Apr 1988> - -----------------------^^^^^^^^^^^ I suggest you upgrade to LaTeX2e as soon as it is out (next month or so). ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 14 Oct 1993 09:51:43 -0000 From: Nick North Subject: RE: LaTeX .STY files for ISO standards As well as the LaTeX style for ISO standards recently mentioned by Peter Wilson, there is another one developed by us at the National Physical Laboratory. This has been successfully used in several ISO standards in the IT field. The latest version can be retrieved by sending an email to info-server@seg.npl.co.uk with the following body: Request: latex Topic: iso.sty Topic: iso9.sty Topic: iso10.sty Topic: iso.tex Install the .sty files with your other LaTeX macros and then run latex on iso.tex to get the user manual. In particular Monotype's Imprint font. I'm not quite sure exactly what I have to do. I've got the IMP.afm and the IMP.pfb files. I've tried converting these using afm2tfm and vptovf, as well as vftovp, which gives lost of errors! When I use DVIPS I get 'virtual recursion stack overflow'. Perhaps I've got outofdate versions of these programs (they were obtained about 3 years ago from the Aston Archive). I have the complete Monotype set converted for use on my SUN, but I must rely on others to tell me how to pack them up to send to you. I assume they will work just as well as on the PC. I will also need you to prove that you have the right to have the copies from me. Ours were obtained under the CHEST deal. The best way (and safest for me) is for you to arrange for suitable authorisation to be sent to me. The same rules will apply to anyone else reading this message.
