LaTeXbangla 1.0 — Bangla documents with ordinary LaTeX

LaTeXbangla provides automatic Bangla/English font switching, Bengali decimal
and alphabetic counter labels, Bengali digits in mathematics, standard language
labels, and supported reference/citation integrations. It uses fontspec and
Polyglossia and does not impose document layout or define theorem environments.

Compile with XeLaTeX:

    \documentclass{article}
    \usepackage{latexbangla}
    \setbanglamainfont{Kalpurush}
    \begin{document}
    \section{বাংলা এবং English}
    বাংলা and English একই অনুচ্ছেদে।
    \textbf{বাংলা and English দুটোই bold।}
    \end{document}

Only one Bangla font is required. Optional \setbanglasansfont and
\setbanglamonofont follow fontspec's feature syntax. English fonts use
\setmainfont, \setsansfont and \setmonofont as usual. Real Bengali faces are
used where available; missing bold/italic faces receive synthetic fallbacks.

Tested fonts: Kalpurush, SolaimanLipi, Siyam Rupali, Noto Serif Bengali,
Noto Sans Bengali and FreeSerif.
Fonts are not included. Install the chosen font separately or provide licensed
font files in your document project.

Install these six files beside your document or on TeX's search path,
preserving the code/ subdirectory:

    latexbangla.sty
    code/latexbangla-fonts.tex
    code/latexbangla-numbering.tex
    code/latexbangla-math-digits.tex
    code/latexbangla-references.tex
    latexbangla-bengali.lbx

The manual in English and Bangla is latexbangla.pdf; its source is
latexbangla.tex. Keep logo.png beside the source when compiling it with XeLaTeX.
The manual uses minted for syntax highlighting; enable TeX Live's restricted
shell escape (the default) so latexminted can run. Code/result examples are
executed during compilation; run XeLaTeX three times to resolve references.
This directory contains the complete CTAN upload, including README and LICENSE.
Examples and tests are available in the GitHub repository:

Automatic decimal and alphabetic counters are Bengali by default. Set
changecounternumbering=false to preserve existing counter formatting.
Authored Western and Bengali digits retain their script in text and mathematics.

Tested baseline: TeX Live 2026, XeTeX 0.999998, LaTeX 2026-06-01,
Polyglossia 2.13, fontspec 2.9h, ucharclasses 2.6.0. The package requests the tested
LaTeX/fontspec/Polyglossia dates. Older releases and hosted Overleaf snapshots
have not been validated. Load newtxmath before latexbangla/fontspec; load
biblatex after Polyglossia (normally by loading latexbangla first).
See the manual for supported integrations and the partial biblatex localization.

Compatibility: banglamainfont and banglattfont remain supported legacy options.
Use the font setters for new documents. changecounternumbering remains current
and accepts true/false or 1/0. The feature=0/1/2 bundles have been removed;
remove that option and define custom environments in your document or class.
